I kind of want these bad. Obviously rolled up like they have them styled in the magazine.
They just look sooo comfortable and I am such a sucker for anything comfortable.
I’m going to try something new with our finances and my shopping this “season.” I don’t know how well it can work but I figured why not try something new?
My plan is to do the majority if not all of my “spring/summer” shopping this weekend. I am doing this for several reasons:
- It will force me to buy smart. Basics and key pieces I will be able to wear over and over again.
- It will make it difficult to justify expensive clothes since I will be spending a lot. It’s much easier to justify a $100 top when you haven’t bought anything in a week than when you are already spending a lot.
- It will take away the option of “perusing the mall” as a form of entertainment. You always get sucked in.
- If I already have everything I need for the spring and summer there will be no reason for me to shop.
- I will have a closet all ready for the change in temperature and no excuse to exclaim every morning “I have nothing to wear!”
Wish me luck!
Above is my inspiration: a sporty watch (Marc Jacobs), loose tank (T by Alexander Wang), futuristic sunglasses (Moxsie), jean shorts or jorts if you will (American Eagle), Jack Purcell, and a canvas bag from WM. J. Mills Co.
Ideally speaking this is how I would wear them all through the spring.
- Top - Uniqlo
- Pants - J Brand
- Shoes - Steven by Steve Madden
- Sunglasses - Ray-Ban
- Coin purse - Rebecca Minkoff
- Necklace - French Connection
I can see it now. Cherry blossoms in full bloom, a cool morning breeze, Kevin’s hand in mine, and a quick stroll to Starbucks for some coffee and the Washington Post.
I have been all over the Oxford trend for this spring. I especially fell in love with them when I saw them paired with a dreamily styled casual outfit at Madewell. It was then that I decided that I must own a pair.
I knew the search would take some time, they had to be perfect. I would let fate guide me.
And so it was this past Friday we were browsing South Moon Under when the clouds parted and there they were! The perfect pair of Oxfords! I loved the color, the detail, and how wonderfully adorable they looked on my feet!
I nervously flipped the shoe over to check the price tag and voila! On sale for $50!
Done! They were mine!
I can’t wait to pair them with my white jeans and a lovely striped tee.
P.S. They are Steven by Steve Madden.
Speaking of Holly Golightly and being fabulous how about this little number for a dinner party?
- Blouse - Chloe
- Skirt - Marc by Marc Jacobs
- Shoes - Kate Spade
- Clutch - Halston
- Necklace - Kate Spade
Isn’t it all just to die for?
Oh how I wish I had a house big enough to entertain in and yet again, Holly did it in a tiny NYC apartment so…

Shelby wrote in with the following request: I was wondering if you could create an outfit with white jeans, possibly a spring/summer outfit. I LOVE white jeans but I’m not too sure on how to wear them.
- Top - Alice by Temperley
- White jeans - J Brand
- Sandals - YSL
- Cuff - Tory Burch
- Bangles - Forever 21
- Hat - Banana Republic
- Earrings - Banana Republic
- Tote - Marc by Marc Jacobs
This is the perfect way to wear white jeans this spring and summer. You want to go with skinny jeans, heels, and a striped top is must!
P.S. Of course I had to add the pug! I wouldn’t go anywhere without her!

Holly wrote in with an incredibly fun request: I’m going to the Kentucky Derby in May and can’t find “the perfect” dress. I’ve already purchased the hat- which I fell in love with right away. I just don’t know what to do about the dress. I’d like to keep it under 200.00 and I want something springy and comfortable but also fashionable and not boring.
Well my dear, I think I found just the dress for you!
- Dress - French Connection
- Shoes - Guess
- Wallet - Comme des Garcons
- Sunglasses - Balenciaga
- Earrings - Betsey Johnson
- Necklace - Anna Sheffield for Target
How fun is this? I want to wear it like now!

The lovely Theodora of Losing Weight in the City requested that I help her with an “interview chic” outfit. No problem!
- Jacket - Dorothy Perkins
- Blouse - Topshop
- Skirt - Karen Millen
- Bag - Kate Spade
- Shoes - Steve Madden
- Watch - Michael Kors
- Pen necklace - Vintage Inspired
Here’s the thing about dressing for an interview. You want to look like yourself. I made the mistake once of putting myself in a stuffy suit. I felt uncomfortable and awkward. If you’re not a suit person, don’t wear one! Also do not over accessorize and keep it fairly simple. Play with textures and colors but make sure to balance it out.
For this particular outfit the orange blouse will only be peeking out from under the blazer, the skirt is fun but conservative enough, the polka dots on the bag add a lighthearted feel to a boring tote, and I kept the accessories simple as to not overpower the outfit.
As always you can find similar items to these at places like Express or Target if these specific items are not in your price range.
Hope you liked it!
Completely obsessed with this top I got at A&F this weekend. Months ago I swore I would never go in this heinous store again and yet I continually find myself liking things there. Like this top.
It’s absolutely fabulous. Soft, light, and the buttons in the back create a really flattering shape.
Did I mention it’s $12? I think I might need to pick up some more asap.
